Lifting and Moving Safely – Liverpool

How to prevent Muskuloskeletal Injuries (MSI’s) for non-resident activities.

We know that sprains and strains are the highest contributor to workplace injuries in the Health and Community Services sector in Nova Scotia. AWARE-NS and WCB NS have already been providing training with the Safe Handling & Mobility (SHM) program. This new program is additional training for the injuries that occur due to activities, other than the lifting and transferring of residents/clients.

This session is targeted towards managers/supervisors, support staff managers/supervisors and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee members.

We’ll be covering a 6-step process for how to prevent MSI’s. This MSI prevention guide will help you every step of the way. Learn how to build awareness, identify hazards, assess risk, implement controls and assess the effectiveness of your action plan. You’ll soon be on your way to making your workplace safer for everyone.

You must bring with you to the training session: A summary report of the last two years of MSI’s from your organization that didn’t involve activity from handling a resident/client. (When, where the incidents happened and a description) Please remove any confidential information from your summaries.

Please arrive 20 minutes before course start time to ensure proper time for registration.

This training is being delivered by AWARE-NS and WCB NS.
