SECTION 1: COMMITMENT, LEADERSHIP AND PARTICIPATION
As stated in the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) holds all employees responsible for maintaining a healthy and safe workplace, for themselves and any other person at the workplace. An employer must have a written safety policy that outlines their commitment to safety for everyone at or near the workplace.
This section will help ensure compliance with Nova Scotia OHS Act, by developing an effective safety policy, safety management cycle, assignment of responsibilities and IRS.
